چکیده

Conventional transbronchial needle aspiration (cTBNA) biopsy is a diagnostic minimally invasive technique applied using fibreoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) in the evaluation of mediastinal/hilar lymph nodes. With development endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) devices, needles have been revised for use according to EBUS guidelines. The main aim this research was evaluate success that produced when it with FOB instead conventional TBNA. A retrospective examination made data 35 patients TBNA, specifically designed and 36 TBNA (cTBNA group), lung cancer staging or diagnosis mediastinal lymphadenopathy between November 2018 2019. Seventy-two sixty procedures performed on 71 were included study. Diagnostic efficiency cTBNA groups 91.4% 83.3%, respectively. still acceptable low cost ease application are taken into consideration. In conclusion, improvement current similar EBUS-TBNA more efficient capacity could be first stepto increasing yield. Nevertheless, further studies needed confirm our results.

Evaluation of oxygen requirement in patients during fiberoptic bronchoscopy

Background: Sometimes oxygen is given to patients during fiberoptic bronchoscopy to prevent arterial hypoxemia, but oxygen usually is given to patients with SPO2 less than 90%. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patient's oxygen requirement according to SPO2 and its relationship with Pulmonary Function Test (PFT). Methods: From January 2006 to April 2007, 146 patients who needed fibe...

Oxygen desaturation during fiberoptic bronchoscopy.

A prospective study was performed to detect oxygen saturation (SaO2) during and following fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) in 50 patients. Twenty-five patients (group 1) underwent the procedure without and 25 (group 2) with supplemental oxygen. The SaO2 declined from the baseline value of 96.4% to 92.08% in group 1 and to 94.88% in group 2 after bronchoscopy alone. The decline was also noted when ...

Severe Pneumomediastinum Complicating EBUS-TBNA

To the Editor: Pneumomediastinum infrequently complicates diagnostic bronchoscopy. Increased airway or alveolar pressure results in air leaks to the mediastinum through existing or induced defects. Excessive cough, recurrent episodes of increased abdominal pressure, vomiting, or sneezing can all induce spontaneous pneumomediastinum. Less commonly it has been documented with lung or neck infecti...

The learning curve for EBUS-TBNA.

We read with interest the paper by Kemp and colleagues 1 which utilises cumulative sum (CUSUM) to analyse the learning curves associated with endobronchial ultra-sound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA). The retrospective study from five centres demonstrated that variable learning periods are required to attain proficiency in the procedure, and a pooled sensitivity of 67.4% was...
